This post is intended to outline the StakeEasy community governance process, and will be modified over time. The suggested governance process is as follows:

Step 1: Discussion

It’s very important for community members to discuss their ideas and receive thorough feedback before starting the proposal process. Community members are encouraged to use StakeEasy community channels to discuss early stage governance ideas including the “General” channel here on
Commonwealth: https://commonwealth.im/stakeeasyfinance. Always use the “Discussion” tag when sharing ideas to help keep the forum organized.

Some things to take into consideration include:

  • How will this proposal bring value to the StakeEasy community?
  • Are there any significant risks or tradeoffs associated with this idea?
  • Who will be impacted the most if this proposal is implemented?
  • Is there clear community demand for this proposal?

Once you are confident that there is some demand for your idea, it’s time to start drafting the proposal.

Step 2: Draft the Proposal

Community members should take any and all feedback and suggestions into consideration when drafting a proposal. It’s important to anticipate which questions other community members may ask when drafting a proposal, and try to include details to address them in advance. Once the proposal has been drafted, it’s time to post it in the “Proposal Discussion” category here on Commonwealth.

When posting a drafted proposal always include a short title that summaries the content.

Step 3: Engage With the Community

Once the drafted proposal has been shared on Commonwealth, the author should:

  • Encourage key community members (well respected contributors, validators, large stakers, etc.) to share their questions, concerns and/or constructive criticism.
  • Spread the word to bring attention to the proposal. Use tools like Twitter, Discord, Telegram to alert the community.
  • Answer relevant questions on Commonwealth and the #governance-discussion channel on the StakeEasy Discord

If the community’s feedback demonstrates clear support for the governance proposal, the author should make any necessary changes and prepare to submit the proposal.

Step 4: Submit the Proposal at: DAO

Once there has been ample discussion and all feedback has been taken into consideration, the governance proposal should be submitted on https://dao.stakeeasy.finance/vote and select “New Proposal” to submit the proposal.

When submitting a proposal :

  • Pay close attention to fine details — once a proposal has been submitted it cannot be altered;
  • Include the links to any relevant discussions that have already taken place;

To create a proposal, select “New Proposal” in the lower right on vote page: https://dao.stakeeasy.finance/propose forum on https://dao.stakeeasy.finance/vote , and choose “New Proposal” to add..

Please note that a 1,000 SEASY deposit is required for all governance proposals at the time of adding the proposal and is fully refundable as long as the according proposal reaches the quorum.

Important Governance Information:

All community members who stake SEASY tokens are able to vote on governance proposals.

In order to submit a governance proposal, community members must make a 1,000 SEASY deposit at the time of submitting the proposal.

Once a proposal has been submitted, community members will have 5 days to vote.

Note: There are two ways by which the proposal will be executed

1) Those proposals having a specific transaction that needs no manual input, gets into the execution automatically from the contract. In such proposals there will be no intervention by the team members.

2) Those proposals that requires manual intervention at some point, Devs will perform it and the announcement will be out when the proposal gets executed. The proposals only gets into the action when it gets passed.

In Order for a Governance Proposal to Pass:

  • At least 10% of eligible votes must be cast.
  • A majority of the voting power needs to vote “Yes”.
